The Optical Multimeter combines the functions of a Laser Source and a Power Meter into a single simple to use instrument used to test fibre optic cables and equipment.
This is done by transmitting light at a known power level at one end of a fibre with the built-in laser source, or an independent Optical Light Source, and measuring the power at the other end with the built-in power meter, the Attenuation (loss) of the cable can be calculated. The power meter can also be used to measure the output power from optical equipment. The power meter is calibrated at a large number of wavelengths to enable power measurements to be made on a wide range of Single Mode and Multimode fibre optic cable systems.
