Perfects air jet technique for final stage of optical fibre installations
Amsterdam, The Netherlands -- Draka Communications, a global leader in the optical fibre industry, has attained a success rate in excess of 99% for its new automated air jet fibre delivery method for the final stage of FTTH installations.
Its plug and play solution involves air blasting pre-ferruled cables (cables with pre-fabricated semi-finished connectors) through microducts with jets of air from a central point which may be up to a kilometer away. Up to 50 homes can be completed in a single session.
Draka has perfected this approach with Diamond, a Swiss-based precision-manufacturing fibreoptics specialist that fabricates the connector base which slips over the cable end before air jetting.
