Comcore Technologies, Inc. today announced the development of a new coupler process-based technology that solves an historic technical challenge for fused PM couplers (Splitters, Taps, and WDMs).

Comcore's breakthrough is based on a superfusion™ process that allows the fused PM couplers can work on both of slow and fast axes, which means that devices have very low PDL, typical is only 0.05dB. This improved attribute also achieves that the related PM fiber devices have low temperature dependence, wide operation wavelength, high-reliability, and avoids the coupling ratio fluctuation due to the different polarization extinction ratio for launching source.
Using this special process, Comcore has already developed several different PM fiber product families such as 1x2 (2x2), 1x3 (3x3) PM couplers, and 1x2 (2x2) PM WDMs, covering all of different operating wavelengths.
