Optical transmitter testing is a key cost element in the manufacturing of transceivers and their subcomponents. Accuracy, repeatability, and test speed all play their part. In this paper we look at some important common trans-mitter measurements and how they are made with a SyntheSys Research BERTScope-based setup. In addition, we look at how example results compare with those made with two common sampling scope solutions.
