Under the terms of the agreement, ADC engineers will gain access to Research Center COM's facilities in Copenhagen. In return, the US network equipment vendor has committed to supply and install a suite of plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition equipment at the center.
"Research Center COM has a prominent position within photonics research in Europe," said Torben Jacobsen, director of business development at ADC Denmark (formerly IBSEN Micro Structures). "We are pleased to be formally strengthening our co-operation, which will support R&D activities within integrated optics."
ADC acquired IBSEN Micro Structures in May 2000, and has since tripled the number of engineers at its Copenhagen facility. The first product to come out of ADC's optics activities in Denmark is a multichannel dense wavelength-division multiplexing monitor scheduled for launch next year.
Research Center COM is an autonomous education and research center affiliated with the Technical University of Denmark. The center specializes in a range of telecommunications technologies, including materials, components, systems validation and novel network solutions.
