"With five fiber-optic acquisitions in the last six years, ADC has the critical mass to provide a broad range of active and passive optical components and modules," said Rick Masloski, vice-president of ADC's fiber-optics division. "We believe the center will leverage our strengths in innovative optical technologies and manufacturing processes."
ADC now has R&D and production facilities for optical components in the US, Sweden, Denmark and Australia. Back in May, the company bought the Swedish tunable-laser specialist Altitun for USD 872 million, and IBSEN Micro Structures of Denmark, which has expertise in phase masks and fiber Bragg gratings, for USD 80 million.
